Chitra loves teaching because, for her, it’s about more than sharing knowledge — it’s about inspiring confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. For her, the best part is watching children light up when their code finally works, sparking curiosity and encouraging them to push their own boundaries.
At MAMA.codes, Chitra teaches Scratch, ScratchJr, and Python to children aged 5–15, bringing over 18 years of professional IT and project management experience and a Master’s in Computer Science to every class. Her sessions are interactive, story-driven, and designed to make coding fun and accessible, while also helping children build problem-solving, logical thinking, and future-ready skills.
“In a world where technology is part of everything we do, coding gives children confidence and the ability to understand, not just consume, the digital world around them. Most importantly, it encourages resilience: when something doesn’t work, they learn to try again, which is such a valuable skill for school, work, and life.”
Before joining MAMA.codes in 2024, Chitra taught coding with WhiteHat Jr in India and mentored students in project-based learning. She’s now also studying AI and Data Science, weaving real-world insights about technology into her lessons to inspire the next generation.
“What I enjoy most is seeing how every child finds joy in their own way—whether it’s creating a game in Scratch, animating a story in ScratchJr, or solving a puzzle in Python. Each project is unique, and that uniqueness is what makes teaching them so rewarding.”
Outside of coding, Chitra loves exploring new cultures through food and travel, often sharing those experiences to spark curiosity in her classes. She’s passionate about helping children see coding not just as a skill, but as a language for the future — one that builds resilience, creativity, and confidence for life.
