Meet George | ScratchJr Coding Tutor

George is an online ScratchJr coding tutor at MAMA.codes, teaching children aged 4 — 7. With a background in education and music, George brings creativity and patience to every lesson.

At MAMA.codes, George loves showing children how fun and rewarding coding can be. For them, the magic lies in watching learners design, control and adapt their own creations — discovering that they can build something unique from scratch.

George loves to find projects that get children excited and engaged in coding. One of this recent favourites was a monster project which saw children make monsters move, disappear and even make funny noises recorded by the children themselves! Coding can be the perfect mix of art, science and laughter, and projects like this are proof that coding is as much about creativity as it is about logic.

With a background in both technology and music, George brings a creative and practical approach to every class. Since joining MAMA.codes 5 months ago, he’s enjoyed helping children explore how things work, while drawing on their experience teaching music to support different learning styles.

I think coding is important as it encourages the development of skills such as logical thinking, problem solving and creativity. These are all transferable skills that I think will be relevant for children throughout school and into their future careers. I also think it encourages positive screen time, creating good habits for them from a young age, enabling them to better manage their screen time in the future.”

When they’re not teaching or coding, you’ll find George on the football pitch or cheering on Manchester United.
