Meet Tal | ScratchJr Coding Tutor

Tal is a qualified primary school teacher with over 7 years’ experience teaching across KS1 and lower KS2. As an ICT Lead Teacher, she supported colleagues to use technology effectively in the classroom – experience Tal now brings to every MAMA.codes session. Since joining us in 2019, Tal has inspired hundreds of children to develop confidence, resilience and creativity through coding.
Tal’s favourite projects to teach are the Joke Book (always guaranteed to get the class giggling!) and Superhero Clean Up, where children build their own on-screen controller to move a superhero around the page. Both activities combine fun with valuable coding skills that children can build on in future sessions.
For Tal, the best part of teaching coding is seeing those lightbulb moments when a child suddenly understands how something works, and then applies that knowledge to their own creative projects.
When not coding, Tal loves spending time outdoors with her husband and two young children – going for walks and bike rides, gardening, or baking together. And when it’s time to unwind, you’ll often find her curled up with a good book and a cup of tea.
Tal believes coding is a vital skill for children today, teaching creativity, collaboration, independence and perseverance – as well as giving them the confidence to shape the digital world around them.
