- Location: Online
- Availability: Monday — Thursday, 1pm — 3pm and Sunday afternoons
Ed is passionate about coding and teaching young people, and he’s the creative mind behind our brilliant Minecraft curriculum. He designed our popular escape-room style challenge, which introduces children to new coding skills as they work together to break free and unlock the next level.
Ed has been teaching at MAMA.codes for just over a year, delivering lessons online and in-person to students aged 8 — 13. Outside of teaching children to code, Ed is a musician, and self-employed Music Educator — often bringing his love of music into lessons to inspire creativity in new ways.
With lots of experience supporting children with SEND, Ed makes sure every learner feels confident and included. He loves combining children’s natural enthusiasm for Minecraft with coding, creating lessons that are fun, accessible and packed with opportunities to learn.
For him, the best part of teaching is seeing children light up when they realise they can take control of the game they love and use coding to make it their own (sometimes spawning 1000 chickens at a time!).
For Ed, coding is not about whether or not a child will go into coding as a career, but instead about the iterative process of having a goal, trying something, seeing the result, looking to see what went wrong, and refining it. These skills are valuable whatever career path someone pursues.
You can hear Ed explain more about our Minecraft course and how it’s a great tool for learning in this video.
Ed has received glowing feedback from parents and students alike:
- My son has loved every moment learning with his tutor Ed! The support, fun and excitement has been second to none! We highly recommend this course.
